Back in person … finally!
While we’re not quite past the Covid-19 pandemic, and many areas of the world are still struggling with this virus, it’s hopeful to see that business travel in the United States has picked up — and getting back together in person is becoming possible once again.
After two-plus years of being able to connect mostly through Zoom, I’ve relished the chance to visit with old industry friends at a couple of recent conferences. Although the idea of attending a mammoth trade show with tens of thousands of people is still enough to make some nervous, I have definitely enjoyed going to some of the smaller events.
Speaking of more intimate events, two of our sister publications are getting back into the events game next month, with the Fluid Power Technology Conference and DeviceTalks Minnesota hosting their events concurrently, from June 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.
DeviceTalks, run by Mass Device, focuses on the engineering and manufacturing of medical devices, with attention paid to just about every part of the process: innovation, funding, prototyping, engineering technology, product development, manufacturing, sourcing, and even the regulatory market. Speakers at the event are coming from industry giants like Johnson & Johnson, Philips, Inspire Medical Systems, Abbott, Medtronic, and Stryker. And the Fluid Power Technology Conference, run by Fluid Power World, returns with speakers from component manufacturers, well-known academics in the fluid power space, and some of the most popular industry trainers in the U.S. and Canada for a day and a half of learning and networking. This popular event includes hands-on technology demonstrations, workshops, industry tours, and some fantastic industry panels. It’s one of my favorite events, and there’s always so much to learn from the speakers and so many opportunities for networking with friends old and new.
