Elesa has recently extended its Antimicrobial Products “SAN” line with components now also available in white. The aim is to solve a problem of great importance with which countries around the world are facing: the danger of antibiotics resistance. This phenomenon leads microorganisms to resist against antimicrobial drug activities.
SAN Antimicrobial components are manufactured from a special technopolymer which contains antimicrobial additives based on silver ions (without active pharmaceutical ingredients, antibiotics or pesticides). The silver ions penetrate the surface of the microbe cell wall to attack their DNA, to prevent the proliferation of unhealthy organisms such as microbes, bacteria, mildew and fungi.
SAN products are available in the new RAL 9016 white color in addition to the existing RAL 7021 grey-black. The laser-engraved logo is clearly recognizable on the matte surface.
These components are ideal for medical, hospital, rehab and disability aids and equipment, machines for the pharmaceutical industry, street furniture and public places.
Laboratory tests show that 98,9% of the bacteria is eliminated over the course of 24 hours (ISO 22196: 2001).
Despite scrupulous sanitization procedures, especially in public places, hospitals and long-term care facilities where it is easier and faster to contract infections, microbial contamination can persist on 5 to 30% of surfaces or objects. It is therefore important to reduce the possibility of contracting these infections in such environments.
The inalterability of the antimicrobial characteristics extended over time, even after many hot washing cycles, is made possible by the controlled release of silver ions of these products over time.
